How to Transition Your Wardrobe From Winter to Spring – Lighter Layers

February 20, 2019

It’s day three of my five day series with Jo-Lynne about how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. Each day we are talking about one easy thing to do to make a big impact on your outfit in terms of making it more springlike. In case you missed it you can see Monday’s post about swapping your shoes here. Tuesday we talked about wearing brighter colors. Today we are discussing lighter layers. Spring is the time to ditch our heavy winter coats in favor of lighter jackets. This topic is an all time favorite of mine as my leather and suede moto jackets, my jean jacket, and my green utility jacket are all closet staples for me. Be sure to check out Jo-Lynne’s outfit and tips too!

Moto Jackets

Today I decided to feature my faux leather moto jacket. This particular one is by BlankNYC, and is under $100. I have had mine for three years now, and the quality is AMAZING especially for the price. This is the current version which has gold hardware and a removable hood. Here is a very similar one by the same brand and another very similar one by another one on major sale. When it comes to fall, warmer winter days, and spring, I absolutely love this jacket. Anytime I want to feel cool, add some edge, or just want an extra layer, it is my go-to piece. I’ve actually shared a post with 7 ways to style a leather jacket before. You can see it here if you are interested.

My suede moto is by the same brand, and my feelings for it are exactly the same. I cannot recommend two pieces more when it comes to quality, versatility, and making an outfit pop. I’ll actually be sharing my suede jacket on Friday, but I’ll include a photo of it below in this post so you can see. Here is a post with 7 ways to style it. This is my exact one, but I’ll link other versions below many of which are on sale right now.

Jean Jackets & Utility Jackets

Aside from my moto jackets, the other two I wear all the time are my jean jacket and green utility jacket. Both are so easy to layer over so many different types of fabrics and prints. They are perhaps less intimidating than a moto jacket too. Don’t limit yourself to pants/jeans with these jackets either. All four make a great layer over skirts and dresses. I’ll share some ideas of how to style them all below.

Outfit Details

I absolutely love this dark floral blouse for spring!! It has a drop waist peplum hem which is such a fun detail and is almost hard to even see in these photos. It is on sale right now for only $25 too, score!! The same print also comes in a really cute button up top. These jeans are a favorite of mine for under $100. Don’t even get me started on these boots! You can tell from these photos below I have had them for a long time and wear them a lot. My exact is sold out, but this is a super similar pair I have seen and examined in person. They are great!
