I am so excited to be teaming up with Jo-Lynne from Jo-Lynne Shane this week to be bringing you a series all about how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. I know this is a topic on all of our minds right now, so I think it will be really timely. If you are like me, you are so over winter clothes right now and ready to start buying some spring things. Most of us are not quite in the climate to wear those spring clothes just yet, but we can make some easy wardrobe changes to at least give us tastes of spring and/or prepare our wardrobes when the time comes.
Each day we will be focusing on one easy transition. Today we will be talking shoes! You can easily swap your shoes out for a quick and easy change each season to totally change your look. Be sure to stay tuned each day this week for more information on the other topics: brighter colors, lighter layers, cropped jeans, and lighter fabrics. I hope you all will enjoy this series. Be sure to visit Jo-Lynne too each day to see her take and advice on each topic. I always love teaming up with another blogger so you can see two ideas/takes on the same fashion issue.
How to Transition Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring – Swap Your Shoes
Spring Boots
In my opinion, shoes are the easiest way to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. Without changing anything else about your outfit, you can change your shoes and have a look that feels lighter and fresher for spring. Leave your heavy winter boots behind (think tall snow boots, knee high boots, etc.), and swap them for a lighter ankle boot with a cutout or a peep toe boot. Peep toe boots are one I highly recommend for spring. I have a pair I wear all spring and summer long. They are incredibly versatile when the weather starts to warm up!
Fun Sneakers
Another great option like I have done today with my pink Vans is a fun sneaker! I have been on a major sneaker kick lately. Depending on the sneaker you select, they can really add so much personality to your outfit while being incredibly comfortable and still warm. Sneakers go with a surprisingly wide amount of things if you select a pair that isn’t a true alethic version. Nowadays there are so many variations available designed to go with jeans from slip-ons, to Converse, to fun Nikes, and more. I have a pair of slip-ons that I just love. I’m linking a few of those below that are made from brands like Naturalizer and ECO really designed for comfort which I am all about while chasing a 2 year old.
Versatile Flats
The last shoe I really recommend for your spring shoe wardrobe is a mule/slide or an easy flat that will go with a lot. I have a couple pairs of these and wear them more than I ever thought possible. Besides being comfortable due to the flat sole, you can find ones with a good insole and/or ones with really versatile color choices. Leopard slides/flats going with more than you would imagine and add so much personality to a look. A nude flat is truly a wardrobe workhorse. I just bought this white slide which I will be featuring later this week. I think it is going to be perfect for spring with jeans and summer with shorts. I recommend sizing down a half size.
Outfit Details
I am obsessed with this leopard top! I just bought it, and I think it is going to be a piece that will sell out. It’s only $39.99, and is currently on sale for only $24!! Some of the reviews say it is short, and I don’t agree totally. It isn’t a long top, but I am tall and didn’t find it too short. I am wearing a small when I can sometimes wear an XS at LOFT. I found it long enough to do a cute front tuck or leave out. It’s thicker material which is perfect for chilly spring days.
These are my all time favorite black jeans. A splurge for sure, but in my experience (I’ve had them two years), a worthwhile investment as the color stays and they are incredibly flattering. I’ve also had this jean jacket for a couple of years, and it is a closet staple for sure. Unlike others I have had, the jean is soft and thus really comfortable. More on that later this week when we talk about lighter layers! Stay tuned.

So much love for this look!
I get excited when I can show my ankles and wear ankle socks with shoes when it gets a little warmer!! I’ve done this on the few warm winter days we’ve had.
