I’ve always been a person who likes to dress up which fit well with my life pre-baby. My workwear afforded me the opportunity to exercise my penchant for all things skirts and heels. Since having Ivy, my life looks remarkably different which I am totally okay with. It does mean my dressy clothes aren’t really appropriate on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I still wear them any chance I get and plan to when I go back to work part-time in February. For now, I’m enjoying more casual looks and developing my mom style.
To be honest, I have never been very good at casual. When I have needed to run an errand or take Ivy to the doctor, I kept coming up short. I began a search for some tops that would be casual with unique details. I found several tees that are anything but basic. I’m sharing them below. I have also been loving details like coated jeans, velvet sneakers, and studded boots that don’t sacrifice style while maintaining comfort.
Blog photos have gotten more difficult, and I don’t always get to photograph all my everyday looks anyway. I’ve started snapping an ootd (outfit of the day) picture when possible, and I thought I would start sharing them here. I have to be honest y’all, these ootd photos are hard! You should have seen me making a fool of myself in our driveway. I don’t know how other bloggers make it look so easy. After moving to the back deck for the second one so the neighbors didn’t think I was totally insane, I still couldn’t get the white tank to focus right. Oh well! I’d love to have your feedback about this, so please let me know what you think about this content. It’s not my usual and a little out of my comfort zone.

Never been good at casual? Pshhh what are you talking about?! Such great easy looks Amy – so easy but so chic at the same time. I really love the moto outfit – perfectly cool and edgy. I totally get you about taking outfit selfies from above – SO HARD. My arm just does not move that way! I don’t understand how other do it!

I like seeing your more casual style, and I like the “everyday” #ootd style snaps! I feel like getting dressed after having a baby is just as hard as, if not harder than, getting dressed when pregnant. Your body is different, you have to consider nursing (if you nurse), and practicality matters now more than ever. I think you look fabulous and I love your mom style!
Love these pieces you picked out Amy. Thanks for curating this! Goals!

I love this post Amy! For some reason, I actually relate more to the more raw photos people just snap of themselves, like I can see the items better or something??! I dunno, lol. But, I think it’s great! I’m all about that mom style.

I hadn’t heard of coated jeans before but I’d seen that finish, just not realized that was what it was called!

I am glad I am not the only one that wonders how people get the perfect OOTD photo with not look totally crazy – snapping tons of pictures to get just the right one. I have always loved your skirt/dress style – because I am more casual – so I look forward to your evolving style.

At least your whole body can fit on camera to take an OOTD selfie! I’ve tried so many times, but I’m too tall to fit in frame 🙁 I definitely don’t mind these types of posts. I can live vicariously through yours!

I cannot take those ootd photos for the LIFE OF ME. I have tried and failed so many times, lol.
Love seeing you a bit more casual, doll- I think you’ve got the hang of it, even if it doesn’t feel second nature yet. 🙂
