Mom Style

January 18, 2017

I’ve always been a person who likes to dress up which fit well with my life pre-baby. My workwear afforded me the opportunity to exercise myΒ penchant for all things skirts and heels. Since having Ivy, my life looks remarkably different which I am totally okay with. It does mean my dressy clothes aren’t really appropriate on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I still wear them any chance I get and plan to when I go back to work part-time in February. For now, I’m enjoying more casual looks and developing my mom style.

To be honest, I have never been very good at casual. When I have needed to run an errand or take Ivy to the doctor, I kept coming up short. I began a search for some tops that would be casual with unique details. I found several tees that are anything but basic. I’m sharing them below. I have also been loving details like coated jeans, velvet sneakers, and studded boots that don’t sacrifice style while maintaining comfort.

Blog photos have gotten more difficult, and I don’t always get to photograph all my everyday looks anyway. I’ve started snapping an ootd (outfit of the day) picture when possible, and I thought I would start sharing them here. I have to be honest y’all, these ootd photos are hard! You should have seen me making a fool of myself in our driveway. I don’t know how other bloggers make it look so easy. After moving to the back deck for the second one so the neighbors didn’t think I was totally insane, I still couldn’t get the white tank to focus right. Oh well! I’d love to have your feedback about this, so please let me know what you think about this content. It’s not my usual and a little out of my comfort zone.

It’s the same with being retired!! But I’ve decided that I don’t have to be casual all the time, even if I’m not working. I love dressing up, so I might as well keep doing it!

This is my mom style to a tee! I love interesting tops layered with jackets! πŸ™‚ I might have to add the gray ruffle sweater (in the middle row!) to my closet!

Seriously, #ootd pictures are the hardest! I make a fool out of myself each time I take one. I love all the ruffle tees and need to add some to my closet. Obsessed with those velvet sneakers!

haha, I am so with you on the #ootd photos–I always feel absolutely ridiculous taking them in public and have never gotten the full-body shot down pat. Yours look great, though! For saying you aren’t very good with casual, I’d say you’ve nailed every look lately! Love your moto jacket with the embellished boots.

I am loving all of these! Figuring out a mom style is hard, I think it took me until after my fourth to really find what worked for me. I too like to dress up, which means I am usually overdressed for the pick-up line πŸ˜‰

Loving all the ruffles and peplum hems. Casual can be tough but so important to be comfy. I think fun elements like ruffles, embroidery and hardware and things like moto jackets add depth to cute and casual. You are a doll in everything you wear!!

Well you did a great job capturing these. I don’t get how people do it either. I’ve been meaning to go out and do it myself rather than relying on a friend but I’m too self conscious about doing it hahahaha!
