I’ve always been a person who likes to dress up which fit well with my life pre-baby. My workwear afforded me the opportunity to exercise myย penchant for all things skirts and heels. Since having Ivy, my life looks remarkably different which I am totally okay with. It does mean my dressy clothes aren’t really appropriate on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I still wear them any chance I get and plan to when I go back to work part-time in February. For now, I’m enjoying more casual looks and developing my mom style.
To be honest, I have never been very good at casual. When I have needed to run an errand or take Ivy to the doctor, I kept coming up short. I began a search for some tops that would be casual with unique details. I found several tees that are anything but basic. I’m sharing them below. I have also been loving details like coated jeans, velvet sneakers, and studded boots that don’t sacrifice style while maintaining comfort.
Blog photos have gotten more difficult, and I don’t always get to photograph all my everyday looks anyway. I’ve started snapping an ootd (outfit of the day) picture when possible, and I thought I would start sharing them here. I have to be honest y’all, these ootd photos are hard! You should have seen me making a fool of myself in our driveway. I don’t know how other bloggers make it look so easy. After moving to the back deck for the second one so the neighbors didn’t think I was totally insane, I still couldn’t get the white tank to focus right. Oh well! I’d love to have your feedback about this, so please let me know what you think about this content. It’s not my usual and a little out of my comfort zone.

I really should start doing these OOTD photos! Although, somedays I have such a long to-do list that I don’t know if I could fit them in… I really love seeing them on other bloggers IG feeds, though. I am in LOVE with those velvet sneakers! I usually only put on makeup or do my hair if I have to go somewhere (like other then drop off), otherwise my hair is usually back in a wet bun and I just put on my lotion! lol!

I am sooo with you Amy. Being a mother changes a lot when it comes to clothing. I have not worn dresses in a year because they are really not easy for breastfeeding (except for those with buttons of course) and whenver I went out I checked my outfit for breastfeeding-easiness. That was so much more important than style ๐

I see a lot of women doing the athletic look for running errands but I always feel like a mess when I do it. I probably just need better work out clothes! Anyway, great tips!
Love these tips! And I totally hear…I’m not good at casual also! Love the moto jacket! It’s such a statement piece that can transform any outfit!

I totally agree with you! I also have had a hard time with casual. I feel like I’m either really dressed up or in athletic clothes. And I cannot take ootd selfies to save my life hahaha it’s embarrassing. I don’t know how people pull those off!

I’m with you – I’ll try to take those #ootd selfies and they are always horrible. Maybe I’m standing wrong? maybe my arms are too short? Do I need a selfie stick? haha. If you figure out the secret please share ๐

You are one chic mama! I’d love to see round-ups of your “mom style” on the blog, that would be a great feature. I feel ya on the casual looks, the only time I get to dress up is when I head to work or out on a date night but I know when I stop working its going to be all casual all the time, definitely not what I’m used to!

Love the edgy look with your moto jacket and studded boots. I’ve always thought of “mom style” as high waisted mom jeans with white sneakers and some kind of printed turtle neck! You’re clearly hitting it out of the park here. I love the idea of pairing a fun top with basics for a look that is still stylish and pulled together.
I am loving this post! I love how stylish and comfy you look! So fun!
