And we don’t have to be afraid! They actually can be really fun and flattering! The difference between a wide leg and a flare or boot cut is that there is not an obvious narrowing near the knee area. These are full length and wider all the way down. Here are a couple things I would recommend considering when shopping for this trendy style:
- Opt for a higher waist so as to highlight your thinest part since the jeans are by nature wide. This will create shape.
- Get a pair with a slight taper out as they go so your leg still has some shape.
- Don’t grab a pair that is huge – we are talking wide leg here not gaucho pants.

So wide leg jeans are in style for 2022. Now how the heck do you style them?? The modern way is pairing them with a sneaker, a chunky boot, or when spring comes and strappy sandal. Here I am wearing my Veja sneakers. I also recommend keeping your waist visual whether that means tucking your shirt in, wearing a more fitted top, doing a front tuck, or something of the like.
