I often get questions on Instagram about how to shop at SheIn. Every look you see featured today has an item from SheIn including this adorable gingham dress. With a few easy tricks, I have had a lot of success shopping at the site. Yes, I do work with them (i.e. they send me free clothing), but this post is not sponsored. They do not pay me. I just thought I’d pass along what I have learned along the way.
How to Shop at SheIn
- Expect the quality you pay for – For the most part, items at SheIn are $20 or less. You cannot pay under $20 and expect designer quality. If you shop at Forever21 or places of the like, the quality is similar.
- Order sizes by measurements – I keep my measurements on a note in my phone. Each time I order a piece, I order by the measurements. The sizes vary and are not always the same as US sizes. I’ve also found that the sizes on item types are not always the same across the board. I always check on each item what I will wear by my measurements, and I have never gotten the wrong size that way.
- Scrutinize the photos and reviews – Often there are many photos of the actual garment on the model and of people who have bought it. I check these and reviews.
- Be prepared to wear slips/camis – Related to number one above, dresses and tops are often not lined and sometimes need slips or camis. This doesn’t bother me when I remember the price, but if you are a person who prefers a lined garment, you might consider not ordering specific items.
- Shipping takes a while – Because it is coming from overseas, shipping usually takes about 2 weeks. If you are ordering for a specific event or season, be sure to plan in advance. Also, because of the long shipping time you usually need to wash and iron items before wear.
3-D Floral Blouse, $18 (I added the cami) – original post here
One Shoulder Ruffle Dress (not wearing a slip), $28 – original post here
Bell Sleeve T-Shirt, $10 – original post here
Floral Wrap Dress, $26 (I did not feel like I needed a slip), – original post here
Embroidered Dress (wearing a slip underneath), $19 – original post here
Bow Back Gingham Top (I added the cami because of the open back not because of the quality of the top), – original post here
Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything you wanted to know that I didn’t cover! Happy Friday everyone. Also, sorry I have been a little MIA from the blogging world this week. With our move and a few related snafus, things have been a little crazy. I hope things settle down next week and I can get back into the normal swing of things.

What a helpful post, as I’ve never shopped from Shein before and have had my doubts about their quality and service. You’re right though, you cannot expect high end quality when you’re not paying a high end price tag. That said, ALL of the pieces you’ve worn in these looks are super cute; I’ve never realized they were from Shein. Thanks for sharing these tips with us, I’ll definitely be keeping them in mind. Have a wonderful weekend, beauty!

These are great tips which I would need if I ever shop there! I love the pieces you featured the stripe ruffle dress!
Glad to see you wore a cami in that last picture! I bought the same top, and haven’t worn it yet because I’ve been hesitant to wear something backless! I’ve had some hits and misses with Shein, but the prices are so good, it hasn’t been a big risk.
Very good tips!
The best is to read reviews carefully and also see how the items look on other people. I learned this the hard way as I picked up items that were so short I would consider them tops but were marked as dresses.
Oh and if I love something, I buy it in large and just have it altered.
Great post because I’ve been this close to ordering from them but ultimately didn’t because of sizing! I don’t even know my measurements anymore so that’s a helpful tip!
So glad you posted this! Since I’ll be undergoing surgery and shedding weight. I don’t want to send a ton of money on clothing that’s trendier once I start loosing weight.
Love all of your pieces, they are so cute!

I am so glad you posted this because I was working one too with all the questions I get. The measurements on their website have been a total gamechanger!!
I have a post just like this planned for next week! Shopping at these overseas stores can be so stressful!

Great tips! I’ve clicked over to their website before, but I’ve never ordered anything because I just wasn’t sure! All these outfits are so cute on you!
I think this is great advice, Amy!! I think SheIn has fabulous options—but it’s like anytime you order online. There can be surprises when you actually get the piece!
Love the gingham dress!!

SheIn def. has some adorable pieces! I just ordered a piece this morning for a collab and it will def. take awhile to get here! I LOVE that bow tie top, I really need to purchase that! Lol! I also love that you keep your measurements on your phone so you don’t have to keep measuring yourself each time you need to order something!

You look SO good in all of these pictures. I completely agree with your advice. I’ve got several things from SheIn but I’ve been pleased so far with what I’ve ordered. I think the key is measurements and getting items that are more casual with cotton fabrics.

Measurements are so good to have and to check! 🙂 I have no idea what mine are now though, ha! I should really take some new ones, it’s been a long enough time post-baby!
What you’re doing is definitely working for you – you’ve found some very cute pieces there 🙂
Hope you have a great weekend ahead of you and manage to get settled after the move!

You always find the cutest things at Shein! I think all your suggestions are spot on. I find looking at the measurements to be the most helpful, too. My fear is always length when it comes to their dresses (#tallgirlproblems) But I love when I see you wearing a dress from Shein because I know you are tall and it always looks fabulous on you. I need to check out the one shoulder ruffle, it’s the cutest! Have a good weekend and I hope things settle down next week!

Cute pieces lady! I haven’t shopped at Shein yet, but haven’t had much luck with other overseas online retailers. Thanks for the tips – having your measurements is genius! Enjoy your weekend & Happy Father’s Day to Russ!

I’ve had a few good pieces from there, and as you say, you get the quality you pay for. Sometimes I have to take things up (they’re more for tall people than petite), or take things in a little in places, but it’s easily done.
Great tips! I love SheIn for trendy pieces and sometimes the quality is surprisingly good! LOVE the latest one shoulder ruffle dress you wore.
