Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! We had Russ’s parents in town for a visit which was really fun. I have been loving this leopard maxi skirt. I really like midi and maxi skirts like this because I can wear them with Ivy Jean as opposed to shorter skirts which are pretty much impossible. I’ve worn this out a couple of times with her. Since I am such a fan, I thought I would share a few tips on how to style long skirts whether midi or maxi length.
The styling options with a piece like this are endless which is another reason I love them. I added a fun crop top (exact but couldn’t find my color) tucked in casually for summer, but you could easily dress it up with a silk blouse or wear it more street style with a t-shirt and sneakers. As for quality on this exact piece, the actual material isn’t the fanciest I’ve ever seen, but I think it is pretty good for the $49 price. Read on for some general styling tips.
How to Style Long Skirts
- Always tuck your shirt into the skirt. When wearing a long skirt, it is easy for your shape to get lost. An easy way to avoid this is to to your shirt into the skirt.
- To go along with tip number one, select a shirt that isn’t too bulky so that it can be easily tucked in and remains flattering.
- As seen in my examples below and the new look from today’s post, these skirts can be styled in all seasons. You can wear flats, boots, or heels. There really are no hard and fast rules when it comes to shoes. Pick what works best for the way you have your skirt styled.
- When it comes to your top, you can always play it safe with a sold color. If your skirt has a print, you can do some fun print mixing like have done as well. Leopard a stripes, double stripes, floral and stripes, or monochrome are always fun ideas.
Comment if you have any questions! I’d be happy to help. I love wearing these style skirts as you can tell.

You wear maxi skirts so well! I actually don’t have any in my closet, but that needs to change! They are beautiful and very easy to wear! Thanks for sharing these tips!
This outfit is just uber pretty! I love the colorful cropped top and the leopard skirt just screams chic! I have not been super impressed with midi skirt but I did buy a pleated skirt that was midi and I am warming up to it. These are great tips and I agree with both one and two. It’s really does help with the silhouette and charm of the skirt.
