6 Ways to Wear a Plaid Shirt

I recently snagged THE cutest plaid shirt that has both black and a rust color running through it making it super versatile. It’s also a short sleeve with a lighter weight material furthering the versatility since it’s easy to wear now and add layers later. I had to share 6 ways to wear a plaid shirt to have a little fun with this piece! You can dress it up or down and hopefully get a little inspiration. I took a full outfit set in one look that I wore over the weekend and then some mirror selfies of the other five ideas for you.

1. With Black Jeans

Because this top has both black and rust colors, I loved tucking it into my black straight leg jeans. I love this look for right now with our Oklahoma weather. We don’t have fall temps here yet, but I am definitely craving fall weather!

2. With White Jeans & Utility Jacket

Close up this top actually has a little green in it, making it perfect to pair with a utility jacket. I loved the combination with my white jeans and taupe mules. This is a great way to wear white jeans into the fall! Here is the pair I am wearing (size down). More white jean outfit ideas here!!

3. Pair with a Skirt

The great thing about this plaid shirt as opposed to a flannel or something else is that you can easily dress it up or down! You can pair it with a jean skirt, a pencil skirt, or a corduroy skirt like I have done here for a great fall look! My exact skirt is sold out, but here are the boots I am wearing.

4. Dress up with a Work Pant

You can also dress this top up with a work pant like an olive or black jogger or a simple black work pant. Whatever you have will work great! I also added a denim jacket for warmer weather. My exact pair is old, but here is a similar option.

5. Go with Classic Skinny Jeans & Cognac Accents

A classic pairing with skinny jeans and camel accents might be my favorite! I love how it highlights the color in the top!

6. Pair with Black Cardigan
