Styling A Backless Dress

March 22, 2017

I have always shied away from buying backless dresses because I felt like I was too old to wear them. And let’s face it, I am. Buuuttt I always see them and think they are so cute. This white lace one in particular was hard to pass up. Then it hit me: I could wear a layer underneath! Why I had never thought of styling a backless dress like this before I’ll never know. I haven’t had the opportunity to actually wear this outfit yet, but you better believe the next date night Russ and I have this baby is coming out!

Great layering trick and makes this lace dress so much more versatile. I could see this working equally well during the summer months with an ivory short-sleeve tee for a simple monochromatic look. Great find!

First of all, that lace dress is GORGEOUS! Second of all, I never would have thought of this pairing but it is such a great idea! Especially so I could still wear a bra and not have to show off my arms lol! You look amazing Amy!

I would have never though to layer under a backless dress, but it really is a clever idea and makes it so you can wear it in the cooler months too!

I absolutely love how you styled this backless dress! I tend to avoid them because I can never figure out what kind of bra I need to wear, but I’ll definitely have to take pointers from you and layer!

Great idea! I will have to keep that in mind the next time I see one I need to try! (The black under this white dress is perfect! It seriously looks like it was just designed this way!)

That’s a smart idea, Amy! I would not let such a cute dress collect dust in the closet!

Amy you’ve styled the dress beautifully! I have a similar white summer dress I would love to wear now and I was thinking for a way to transition the look into a German-spring-friendly outfit.
Thanks so much for the inspiration darling.

I totally shy away from backless dresses as well. I’m always confused about what kind of bra you’re supposed to wear with them?? This is seriously a constant thought of mine – I know they have sticker bras, but that seems excessive. I never though to layer them before, but this look is so perfect. The black and white are perfect together and that dress is too pretty!

I come across this too, I like the idea of working your wardrobe through so many seasons. A thin turtle neck knit is one way I do the same. I think it is more interesting this way too.
