Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. We really enjoyed spending some quality time with my family on my parents’ farm. I shared a snap on Instagram if you follow me there. Lots of fishing, playing with my adorable niece and nephew, eating my mom’s amazing food, and generally having a good time. It’s fun to trade my heels in for boots occasionally.
Today’s look is a totally recycled one. I love this gingham top. You last saw it here styled for a date night look. It’s one of my favorite pieces, but I’ll be honest, it feels a little one dimensional. I really wanted to get some additional wear out of it before the summer season closed, so I challenged myself to come up with another, more wearable outfit. Since work is where I spend most of my time, I added it to one of my all-time favorite pencil skirts and topped it with a jean jacket to make it office appropriate. I try to get creative with my workwear because it’s easy for it to get boring. It made me realize it’s easy to reinvent your workwear by styling a nontraditional work piece with more classic workwear for a polished and professional but non-stuffy look. How do you restyle pieces to make totally different looks or reinvent your workwear?

Love this look–I’m all about spicing up my workwear!
What a great skirt! I love the pattern mixing, and the denim jacket tones down the dressy outfit beautifully.
Stunning skirt, it looks so pretty. I love your style.

I’m all for restyling pieces and I love how you put this look together. It looks fresh, chic and classic.
Oh wow! Love how you recycled these pieces!!!! I swear anything you put together looks so chic – even when you think those items won’t blend well together, they do!!! Love your styling!

Love that skirt Amy! It’s so great picking old pieces and putting them together in a new way. You look amazing as usual friend.

I don’t like buying “workwear” because just like you say, it is super boring. I’d rather mix some pieces to achieve a formal outcome.

I love the contrast of the fabric and pattern in the top and skirt, the denim brings them together perfectly! Very nice Amy Ann!

The polka dots and gingham work so well together! 🙂
I’m finding I want a wardrobe full of pieces I can wear everywhere, so I like things like this top that I can wear casually or to the office too. It means I don’t have so much unworn in my wardrobe now I’m not working 5 days a week like I used to.

Loving this work wear remix. I am finally working at a job where I can slightly dress up, so this is definitely going to be utilized! I love the two pieces here and how you gave different options for both! I really love your hair! Also, you looked so chic in that first photo as soon as it came up. Those sunnies were made for you!

You look great!! The polka dots with the gingham top is flirty and fun yet professional and definitely work appropriate. Love those sunglasses and happy to hear you had a nice time on your parent’s farm 🙂 I followed you on Insta! Follow me back!

HAHA!! Noelle said exactly what I was going to say about your hair. I really need to go back and look at your tutorial again because I HAVE to curl my hair this weekend (seriously…it’s required) and I don’t know if I remember how. LOL. I am terrible at remixing pieces but hopefully I can get a look closer to your hairstyle. Ha ha.

You are too cute! I love the outfit, but I confess that your hair is really what’s grabbing my attention! It always looks so good! Please do a hair style post in the future, unless you have one that I missed!
You are too good to me. Thanks! I have done one in the past here https://www.straightastyleblog.com/2015/01/easy-waves-hair-tutorial/. My process is exactly the same except I use a 1-inch curling iron now instead of a wand which I have decided I like better. I also have a cut and color I like a little better, but my technique is the same. I keep thinking I should do an update on it because I do get questions about it semi-regularly.
