Reinvent Your Workwear

August 17, 2015

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. We really enjoyed spending some quality time with my family on my parents’ farm. I shared a snap on Instagram if you follow me there. Lots of fishing, playing with my adorable niece and nephew, eating my mom’s amazing food, and generally having a good time. It’s fun to trade my heels in for boots occasionally.

Today’s look is a totally recycled one. I love this gingham top. You last saw it here styled for a date night look. It’s one of my favorite pieces, but I’ll be honest, it feels a little one dimensional. I really wanted to get some additional wear out of it before the summer season closed, so I challenged myself to come up with another, more wearable outfit. Since work is where I spend most of my time, I added it to one of my all-time favorite pencil skirts and topped it with a jean jacket to make it office appropriate. I try to get creative with my workwear because it’s easy for it to get boring. It made me realize it’s easy to reinvent your workwear by styling a nontraditional work piece with more classic workwear for a polished and professional but non-stuffy look. How do you restyle pieces to make totally different looks or reinvent your workwear?

I love those pieces mixed! It’s so nice to find ways to remix with stuff you already have and the outcome is better than you would have imagined!

I love restyling pieces to be appropriate for different occasions! You’ve done a great job here. That gingham shirt is adorable, but you’ve really glammed it up with the pencil skirt!

I love how you mixed this up and I think the small gingham print pairs perfectly with the larger dots on the skirt! Pattern mixing professional – that you are 🙂
