Today I thought it would be fun to share this gorgeous fitted floral dress along with some tips how to take your outfit from day to night with one base look. These are easy outfit swaps to give you more wear out of your closet. I love how easily you can change a dress from daytime wear to date night!
First Pick a Versatile Base Pieces/Pieces
For the base of both of my looks, I selected this floral dress. It’s important when creating a wardrobe to select versatile pieces like this. When you make a purchase, start by imagining it different ways. Solid color or simple printed dresses make great options.
Casual Daytime Look
For my casual daytime look, I knew I wanted to dress this down. Here’s some things to consider.
- Start by thinking of casual pieces to layer.
- I knew my chambray shirt would be a casual option (see my post about how to style a chambray shirt here for even more outfit ideas!). Other ideas are a t-shirt to tie over the top, a jean jacket, etc.
- Then simply add a casual shoe. A sneaker was a no-brainer to me with this, but a sandal, a mule/slide, so anything else like that would also work.
Date Night Ready
When making the swap to a nighttime look, I think it comes down to the shoes! I loved how my red heels ended up working with this dress. If it were wintertime you could easily add a leather jacket, blazer, or even heeled boots.
