It’s day four of the series with Jo-Lynne about how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring! So far we have discussed swapping your shoes, wearing brighter colors, and transitioning to lighter layers. Today we are going for cropped jeans! Be sure to check out Jo-Lynne’s post too! I personally love cropped jeans because I am not a huge fan of shorts, so wearing cropped jeans allows me to wear jeans in spring and summer as they are much cooler. Our summers are really hot, but it is often so cold inside here that jeans totally appropriate. I also love them in spring as an alternative to skinny jeans. Bonus: they are perfect to show off cute shoes!!

Types of Cropped Jeans
So what type of cropped jeans should you consider? You can of course just buy a cropped skinny jean, but in my opinion what makes a cropped jean so appealing is that it is not a skinny jean. What that means for me is that they are not as tight and are therefor easier to move in. As the weather warms up, they are more breathable. The key types of cropped jeans are a cropped straight leg jean, a kick flare/demi-boot, and a culotte. Today I am wearing a cropped straight leg pair in a boyfriend type style. I’ll share some previous examples below in all three though.
Where to Buy?
Next, where and what brands to buy? In terms of most affordable, Old Navy offers a great line called the power straight option. My personal favorites are Levi’s and Madewell, but they tend to be my personal favorites for jeans in general (see my post about the best high waisted skinny jeans). Madewell has some really great kick flare jeans which if you have never tried on this cut/style, I highly recommend going in store and trying it before you rule it out. They are actually really flattering. They also make arguably the best, non-distressed straight jean and culotte. When it comes to different washes and a slightly more modern, boyfriend, broken in feel, I love Levi’s. A new fan favorite is Agolde which is what I am wearing in today’s post. Find them here.
How to Style Cropped Jeans & My Outfit Details
When it comes to styling cropped jeans, I recommend a fitted top and/or a tuck in/front tuck of some kind. See examples below. Sine the jeans by nature are a looser silhouette, pairing them with a baggier top can be too much volume. My top today is a great example. The banded bottom makes it a perfect pairing. I absolutely love this top! It’s sheer, so I am wearing a cami underneath. The sizing is UK, so the small is a size 4 or 6, a medium is an 8, etc. These are the same shoes I wore on yesterday’s post, and I just love them!! I recommend sizing down a half size. I think I will wear these all spring and summer.

I enjoy your blog but I am finding it difficult to find the clothes you are wearing- there is no where to click on the garment or after the pics- please advise -thanks
Like you, Iβm not a fan of shorts, so I wear cropped jeans even on the hottest days here in North Carolina. The options for wider jeans has made it so much more comfortable. I have some kick flares that I made by cutting off a pair of Old Navy bootcut jeans (I didnβt even know it was a thing, but it seemed like a good idea!) Loved the way you styled your outfits in this post and the pictures from the previous posts.
I love cropped jeans for transitioning to Spring and I love all these outfits, especially the cropped straight leg with the blazer!

They are a great way to dress up without being overly dressed. When short shorts are not right for the occasion or you just want to show of your classic style this is the way to go.

I love the cropped jeans, they’re so flattering. My favourite outfit is definitely the one with the checked blazer, although I do love the polka dot too. Have a lovely day! π
