High waisted jeans are my JAM! Seriously, what is not to love? They suck you in and create a longer leg line. As a mom who had a c-section, I am especially fond of them. Though I am thin that area of skin just isn’t quite the same. I like something to go over it rather than hit at the same place/highlight it. I also love a high waist when I am on the floor with my now toddler. I’ve become quite a connoisseur, so today I am sharing the best high waisted skinny jeans. I have several designer pairs, but for the purpose of today’s post I wanted to focus on non-designer options. I will say, the one line I haven’t tried designer wise and want to is Good American.
The Best High Waisted Skinny Jeans
On to the non-designer brands I love. Worth mentioning in my opinion are Express and Old Navy. As far as affordability, these are probably the best bets as they are often on sale. I have tried both Topshop and American Eagle as well, but in my opinion they are too stretchy though I know a lot of people love them. I have both an Old Navy and Express pair I like, but my favorite high waisted skinny jeans are Madewell and Levi’s hands down. In today’s post I am wearing the Levi’s 721 skinny jeans. This is my exact pair. I absolutely love the fit, rise, color, and distressing. It can sometimes be hard to find a jean with just a busted knee. I feel like retailers often go a little crazy with the distressing, and at my age that look is just not for me. I like a distressed jean but nothing too crazy. These are also only $98.

Below I am going to show the other pair of Levi’s I have found a love as well as a couple Madewell jeans I love for comparison. You can read sizing, quality, and fit notes as well. It’s a full review! Leave me a comment if you have any questions.

Levi’s Mile High Super Skinny, $98 – Shop Exact Here
Great, classic wash skinny jean to wear all the time. These are stretchy and comfortable but do not stretch out. A slightly softer denim than the Madewell below. When you shop on the Levi’s site, they usually offer various inseams.
Madewell 9 in Skinny Jean, $128 – Shop Exact Here (almost sold out), Exact in Slightly Different Wash Here, All Here
Madewell has forever been a favorite denim brand of mine. They are well made and hold up well. This is the 9 in rise regular (non-curvy) fit. I don’t like their thermolite edition as much either. They offer petite, regular, tall, and taller inseams as well which is awesome. I am wearing the tall in this pair. They have a bit more true denim feel than the Levi’s Mile High though still have stretch. They do not stretch out. If you bring in an old pair of jeans, they will give you $20 and recycle it to make housing insulation for Habitat for Humanity. Is that not so cool?! More here.
Madewell Button Front Jeans, $135 – Shop Exact Here
Obsessed with this button front detailing! Same info as above on Madewell, but this is the taller inseam as they didn’t have my size in the tall (my normal). You need to size down one in this pair as they have a little more stretch.

I too am SO HAPPY low-rise jeans are OVER. I’m 5’7 with a long torso, so “high-waist jeans” fit me like a regular mid-rise pair. No more constantly pulling my pants back up! I recommend the Levis too. I have a pair of 721 dark wash and I always get compliments when I where them. Just found your blog and I’m looking forward to exploring more of your posts. <3
i have been reading quite a few blogs who favor Madewell jeans. they have only 1 size left in the first pair you showed. where can I find those? I am hesitant to try any other style – although I may have to.
I am 5’6′ and 153 lbs – any suggestions?
Haven’t tried any high rise yet.
willing to spend the money for a great looking pair of jeans!
thanks

You have a great sense of style! You keep the look pretty down to earth, but then give it some pop with your choice of shoes. That’s awesome!
