Feminine and Edgy + Life Update

October 9, 2017

Sharing this gorgeous feminine and edgy outfit combination plus a little life update today. It’s been quite the week you all. Ivy Jean had been sick for days with a fever she just couldn’t shake. Two doctors visits, even more phone calls, and multiple blood tests later, we landed in the hospital on Friday. If you’ve been following along on Instagram (@straightastyle), you know we found out she has pneumonia.

We stayed overnight and were discharged Saturday. We are so thankful for all the wonderful care we go while there and are also thankful to be back home with our girl who is hopefully on the road to recovery. I cannot thank you all enough for reaching out, praying, and generally being the awesome and supportive group of women you are. It is times like these I am reminded why I love blogging so much.

If I am being honest with you all, the hospital visit and the whole illness really has been pretty scary. Her fever has been very high, and I have felt ill-equipped to take care of her and helpless at times. It’s heartbreaking to see your baby stuck over and over and just generally in pain. We have such a wonderful group of friends, church family, and family. I’m so thankful for their prayers and support. It’s funny how life just kind of stops when things like this happen. If you read my infertility or birth story posts (linked on my about page), Ivy Jean has a funny way of reminding this control freak just how little control I actually have and sending me running back to Jesus.

Beautiful outfit – love the feminine details mixed with the edgier pieces. I’m so thankful Ivy Jean is recovering. Any visit to the hospital is scary, especially when your baby is still so young. Glad you’re all home now.

So sorry to hear your daughter has been so sick! It’s horrible when they are unwell, even more so when it involves hospital stays. With Baby Boy’s health issues it’s really brought things into perspective for me – toddler T has been sick but nothing like this, it’s definitely a scary experience. It makes me so incredibly thankful though for being in the country we are, having the opportunities we have, and knowing and trusting in the medical experts around us. We might be going through a tough time, but there is always things to be thankful for!

Oh, and I love dresses and leather jackets together, it’s a nice combo I didn’t get to wear nearly enough over this past winter.
