How to Style a Minimalist Outfit

February 3, 2016

In my head, my style is definitely more minimalist and modern than girly. I know I wear a lot of skirts and dresses, but I don’t believe that equates to girly. I tend toward more muted colors, simple silhouettes, and non-frilly patterns. I mentioned that my Charles & Keith pieces inspired several similar pairings (see the first here and the second here), so today I thought I would talk about how to style a minimalist outfit. These grey pony hair tassel loafers are what my look is built around. I think the key to a minimalist outfit is keeping a similar color palette of non-brights without any one piece being too fussy. To my loafers, I added this grey fringe top, my black culottes (similar), and finished with the perfect black bucket bag also from Charles & Keith. The great thing about minimalist dressing is that all the pieces can usually be worn in multiple combinations. You can see my culottes worn previously here and here. Although my top is new, I have already worn it to work with a white oxford top underneath with grey trousers.

I think a minimal outfit is a real way to showcase true style. Even though this outfit is simple, you still look incredibly stylish and put together. I absolutely love that sweater!

My mission this year is to invest in culottes. Never owned one, but seeing how hard it is to style it I’m kinda worries! Hopefully I’ll find ‘the pair’ soon!

Love love love this look! That top is so fun, it has just the right amount of fringe. I totally agree that color is key when keeping an outfit minimal and cohesive. I think that’s why I’m guilty of owning so much black and grey – so easy to mix and match!

Yes, I know what you mean. And although your style is cleaner than mine (I’m definately on the girly and colourful side) I absolutely love your flawless style. The loafers and that top are beautiful. Kirsten xx
