Gingham and Eyelet

July 31, 2015

First, I wanted to say thanks for your kind responses to my post on Wednesday. It always feels a little vulnerableΒ to share something other than fashion around here. My takeaway is that we all struggle some with social media and comparison. We are all comparing to each other and all feeling like we don’t measure up when we do. I say let’s do our best to build each other up. I want to be a woman known for loving other women and creating an atmosphere where no one leaves feeling less than. I hope you feel that way about my blog. It’s why I started it in the first place. I found other fashion blogs so inspiring and hoped to do even a sliver of the same.

My gingham kick continues (remember this dress?) with these pants I got on major sale at LOFT – my go-to store. They are currently half off the sale price. Score! I paired them with this pretty eyelet cutout top from Chicwish. How great are these sleeves? I don’t usually wear color, but I loved this periwinkle and pretty detailing. I’ve now worn these floral heels approximately 62 times (here and here on the blog). They are so versatile and such a steal (only $30!). Funny story, when I wore them on this day a little girl walked past me a really loudly said, “Mom, that lady is wearing really tall shoes.” Made my day. Totally unrelated – doesn’t my hair look soΒ blonde in these pictures? I recently got it done (this isn’t the first set of photos), and I really like it. I’m totally a natural brunette. #faker

I love this outfit- one of your best in my opinion. Mixing print and floral: advanced styling! (You should wear more colour)

I just read your previous post and I totally agree that it is so hard not to compare yourself in social media. It’s hard to find the balance between your life and others. I’m really glad you shared it, because it shows that we are all not alone in this and I really do hope things get better for you!

On a brighter note, I love how the gingham pants fits you! So cute! Hope you have a great weekend Amy Ann!

I feel that women in general are becoming kinder towards one another, and I do understand what you mean about comaparisons. It’s hard not to be intimidated by all these wonderful creative minds. I totally know what you are talking about… we always compare and always think that we need to be better and better. Its a topic everyone in this world has to deal with since we all think that we are only worthy when we DO something. But actually, I think we are all worthy when we just ARE πŸ™‚
You look fabulous in this retro kind of look! I really love your style!

I agree with you on the wanting to build people up thing! I certainly see your blog as a fun place to visit, but that doesn’t mean you can’t share what you’re going through – it’s your space after all and you can share as much or as little as you like πŸ™‚
