How to Style a Dress Over a Blouse for Work + Link Up

August 9, 2017

I love a good work look. What I love even more is a work look with personality. This dress is business in the front, party in the back. When I got it from Banana Republic, I won’t lie, I was at a little bit of a loss as to how to style it. The front of the dress seemed more formal to me, and I love the open cross back but it obviously wasn’t fit for work worn alone. When faced with this dilemma, the option is simple: layer! Either add a blazer on top or a blouse underneath. I opted to add my favorite blouses underneath it for a work chic look. You could easily wear it alone for drinks maximizing the versatility. The material is a stretchy point fabric. It’s currently on sale, so snag it now!

You can see how I previously styled this blouse (only $18) for work with pants here. My bag is also a favorite and is also on sale. It’s been on the blog more times than I can even count! I love the structure.

Oh, this is such a cute idea to make it work appropriate! Plus, I remember it always being so cold in my office- the extra layer of the blouse underneath would help! The back I am sure is so cute without the blouse, too!

What a lovely dress; I love the laced sleeves, and the ruffles at the bottom. Looks so elegant and dainty.

I hope your event went well. I am sure you are qualified! 🙂 I love how you layered the dress over a blouse. I would never think to do that.

Pretty nice layering! I like the white top and how you style it with this white dress for work is clever.

What a creative way to wear that dress, I love it!! The lace is so fun peeking out of the criss-cross back, and I also love how the sleeves of the top complement the hem of the dress. Such a pretty look!
