How to Update Your Leggings Outfits

Love your leggings but wondering how to update your leggings outfits for 2025? Then this post is for you!! I get it! Leggings are comfortable and so easy to reach for in the morning. As a millennial, we have loved them for a long time! I’ve written this blog for along time, and some of my most read and and searched posts have been about leggings! Buuuut that was back in 2018-2020. See the evidence here about the best long tops to wear with leggings and how to wear leggings casually. Things have changed! In today’s post we are going to take an easy denim and leggings outfit and talk about how to update your leggings outfits for 2025!!

Leggings in 2019

In 2019 leggings really took over! I am including a photo below for reference, but here’s the primary way we wore them:

• long tops whether tunic or t-shirt
• shorter, more fitted jackets
• ankle socks

Absolutely nothing wrong with this outfit! It’s cute, and if you like it and feel good in it then I say, wear it! However, it is a little dated in my opinion. Below are a couple easy swaps to update it.

Leggings in 2025

Good news, you can still wear your leggings in 2025! I will say that wide leg pants have really taken over, and I love them! I do have a post on that coming soon. If you love your leggings though, here are a few easy swaps to make your look more modern.

• swap your ankle socks for a crew sock
• do a tuck on your t-shirt to lift it higher – this elongates your legs and gives you a waist!
• change your more fitted jean jacket for a more oversized option whether an actual jacket or even a button down shirt
• add modern accessories like a bag and sunglasses
