What Shoes to Wear with Wide Leg Jeans

March 8, 2024

I don’t know about you, but I am loving the wide leg jean trend! They are just so comfy. If you are looking for ideas on how to style them, be sure to check out my post on how to wear wide leg jeans. Today I wanted to chat about what shoes to wear with wide leg jeans.

I’ll be sharing examples with both a full length wide leg jean and a cropped wide leg jean. You can also see the side by side video of this in my reel here. It’s super helpful! I am wearing the Madewell super wide leg jean as my favorite full length wide leg jean. As my cropped version, I have on the Madewell Perfect Vintage wide leg jean. I am wearing the normal one here because I am so tall, but they offer a “cropped” one too. On me the cropped is too short, ha. In general, I just love their jeans!

Sneakers

Sneakers are probably my most worn shoe in life. And the good news? Sneakers are the perfect pairing with both a full length and a cropped wide leg jean! Opt for a sleek or a chunkier pair – it doesn’t matter. You can wear them with a casual t-shirt and jeans or dress down a sweater or dressier top like I have here. They are just always cute in my opinion!

Sandals

I love to wear a sandal with wide leg jeans. In the photo below I have on a pretty pearl slide from Target, but I think pretty much anything goes here.

Mules/Flats

A mule or trendy ballet flat works with these too! To be honest there isn’t much that doesn’t work in my opinion. I’ll get to that in a minute. πŸ™‚ A sleek mule is actually one of my favorite pairings. I am wearing this one from Amazon below.

Sleek Heeled Boot

I love how a sleek heeled leather boot pairs with both a cropped and a full length pair of wide leg jeans. I don’t think a lower heel suede boot looks as good though. These are generally clunkier and with the extra fabric from the wide leg jeans, it just don’t work very well. That is just my opinion. If you like it, wear it!!

Chelsea Boot

A chunky chelsea boot is the trickiest of all to style in my opinion. However, sometimes in winter this is the type of shoe you need to wear due to the weather. I think this boot looks best with the slightly more cropped jean than the full length just to avoid there being so much fabric at the bottom and a chunky boot. What I mean is, try to find a jean that isn’t so long the fabric hits and folds. Honestly my full length pair isn’t actually that long (perk of being tall, ha), so it turns out okay too.

Heels

Last but not least in my examples of what shoes to wear with wide leg jeans are heels! Heels are a great choice to wear with a wide leg jean because it helps narrow the leg line. Of course I had to pick a fun shoe and a fun top here. Perfect combo for date night! Both the cropped and the full length pair look great.
