How to Style A Skort – I’m Obsessed!

I’ve recently been on a major kick – a skort kick! I got my first one here in my try on with Red Dress. I realized as a tall girl and a mom how much I love them!! Skirts are often a little short on me, but a skirt with shorts underneath makes me feel more appropriate and covered. Plus, as a mom, I can wear these and still be a mom. Something skirts do not allow for. However, they are still just as adorable and cute as a skirt! Since my first one, I have acquired a few more. Today I wanted to share how to style a skort!

1. Pair with a Sweater

When considering how to style a skort, I think it is important to take into consideration the style of the skort. My first two examples have a smocked, banded top. This style makes it harder to do a full tuck, but I love the look! Especially this fun, bright pink one below that I wore when we went to the botanical gardens here in Tulsa. I paired mine a couple of different ways:

1. A cute, colorful sweater that has a banded bottom and falls at a great length with the smocked top of the skort
2. A sweater that did not have a banded bottom but that allowed for a small, non-chunky front tuck

2. Try a T-Shirt

Next up I went a little more casually with a t-shirt. I love this option because it fits my mom life really well. Since I was still styled the smocked top skirt below, I decided to tie my graphic tee in a knot to highlight the waist. On my second example below, my blue gingham skort has a tie waist. This works perfectly to do a full tuck. I love how you can do sneakers or sandals here depending on how casual you want to be.

4. Opt for a Blouse

If you are looking to dress your skort up and make it function more like a skirt, pairing it with a blouse is a great option! This works well when your skort has a waist like the one below and can easily have a top tucked into it. You can find my full post on this look here.
