How to Change Up Your Outfit with Accessories

Have you seen all the fun hair accessories lately? From headbands to hair scarves and more, hair accessories are a huge trend. Plus, you all know I am a huge statement earring lover! You can see my full post about how to wear statement earrings here. Then there are sunglasses to consider and fun bags too! Even shoes can be a statement accessory. Accessories make such a difference, so today I thought we could talk about how to change up your outfit with accessories. 

When I saw this leopard skirt with the fun ruffles, I just knew I couldn’t style it in a plain way! I had to have to FUN! I added an adorable pink tank top tied in the front, my Amazon prime heart sunglasses, a new bow hair tie, and heart earrings. Even Russ who usually doesn’t say anything gave me a side eye about this look. This look would have been totally different had I just worn, say, a black t-shirt and sandals.

Tips on How to Change Up Your Outfit with Accessories

1. If you are new to accessorizing, start with your base outfit, decide the look you want to go for, and pick one statement accessory. For you, it might be a bold earring, a long necklace, or a colorful bag. 
2. Whether you pile on ALL the accessories like I did with this look or select ONE statement piece, picking the ones that go with the vibe of your outfit is key. Here my outfit is really playful, so it makes sense that my accessories are too. The pink and leopard combo lend itself to a playful vibe and my girly accessories further that feel. Conversely, if I had a more edgy outfit, I might not pick my heart sunglasses. A bandana can be a fun option too, and I love this post with styling tips from Hello Thalita. 
3. Stay true to yourself and pick accessories you enjoy! If you won’t wear a big necklace, maybe try a fun colored shoe instead. One style definitely does not fit all. Remember, style it how we express ourselves without words. 
4. When it comes to statement accessories and trends, I recommend not spending a fortune. My heart sunglasses, hair bow, and earrings are all under $20. If trends change, I won’t feel like I lost out in a major way, but it allows me to have fun now.
