How to Transition Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring – Brighter Colors

February 19, 2019

I’m excited to be back with part two of our five part series about how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring! In case you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out my first post in the series about swapping your shoes. Such an easy way to make a small change with a big impact. I also introduced the series. Jo-Lynne from Jo-Lynne Shane and I will be posting each day this week discussing a different topic about easy ways to style a spring outfit. Be sure to check her blog everyday as well. Today we are talking about another easy swap – brighter colors!

How to Transition Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring – Brighter Colors

I’ll be the first to admit, neutrals are easy. They are comfortable and easy to mix and match, but bright colors are happy and really do make us feel like spring and summer. Who else has a tendency to wear darker colors in fall and winter and brighter colors in spring and summer? I know I do! So when it comes to the seasons changing, an easy way to adjust your wardrobe is by starting to incorporate brights.

Keep it Bright While Temperature Appropriate

Now, if you live in a climate where is isn’t going to get warmer for a while, this doesn’t necessarily mean you have to give up winter fabrics. A great tip to make you feel more spring like while still dressing appropriately is to pick a bright colored sweater, a fun shoe, or consider white or colored jeans like I have done today. I also have a bright pink work pant I just love! All of these are seasonally appropriate, can be layered to stay warm, yet add some color and spring feel. I’m linking multiple options below for you to consider. I’ve personally been really into pink lately which is new for me. I encourage you to give brighter colors a try if you haven’t always been a fan. Some shades really flatter different skin and eyes, so play around with what works for you.

Details on My Outfit

My favorite white jeans are from Old Navy (only $34 on almost always on sale). They are the best I have found in terms of combining affordability and fabric. They aren’t a jegging (read not skin tight). I don’t find them to be see through either. I am almost 5’10” and wearing the regular length here. They will probably be longer on you. My adorable top is also from Old Navy (only $28 and almost always on sale). I sometimes wear a small and sometimes and XS but went with an XS in this one. I loved the pink and white stripe. In the same online order, I purchased several other tops for spring and summer there. I found they had a lot of good, affordable options this season. Another fun way to add a bright is in your accessories like my earrings. I also love the whole Bauble Bar for Target line, SugarFix. So affordable!! I love these shoes too! I recommend sizing down a half size.

I always love adding brighter colors in the spring! Even when it’s still cold out (which it usually is) the brighter shades make me so happy. I love your pops of pink with the white! I am READY for spring.

Cute outfit. I think Old Navy sizes are generally for taller people.. I swim in most of their women’s clothing.
