When I did a quick poll on Instagram, almost 100% of you said you like to see items remixed. I found it really interesting that over 40% of you said you also like exact links as opposed to similar items. I’m doing my best to remix items while the exact pieces are still available. I do this often in real life, but it’s not always as easy to get them blogged in time before they sell out. However, today I am remixing this sweater (now on sale!) and this plaid top (available in multiple colors and super affordable). Both are favorite pieces of mine, have been worn recently, and are still in stock. Win!
Do you remember this sweater shown here with flares and a leopard scarf? And this plaid top worn alone for our pumpkin patch tip? The items look totally different layered and paired with my OTK boots. It is amazing how much more wear you can get out of your closet by simply layering pieces that you have previously only worn alone. I encourage you to think creatively!
How to Get More Wear Out of Your Closet by Layering
- Start looking at pieces as multi-season and consider creative layering options. – Sleeveless dresses are really good candidates for this (as seen here). Take a sleeveless dress you usually only wear during the summer, add a fitted long sleeve top underneath, tights, and boots, and you have a perfect winter outfit!
- As the weather cools, start adding a layer onto tops you’ve worn alone before like I have done today. If your top is long enough, let it hang out the bottom. If not, just tuck it in.
- Play with patterns and textures to keep things interesting.

Classic layered look and thanks for sharing layering tips <3
xoxo, Cool style for men
I like to mix and match, one season to another pieces of clothing. This look is no better than the above the knee boots. This is a lovely outfit.

The idea of investing in sleeveless dresses for all seasons and just layering is quite genius Amy Ann !
You are looking fab in those boots.
Summer dresses and jeans really make a lovely pair, and you’re doing it right dear. Love the over-the-knee boots too.

Layering is one of my favorite go to styles for the fall and winter seasons! Love the look you’ve chosen here, the brown OTK boots pair so beautifully with the plaid shirt, fantastically styled!

I’m not at all surprised by that percentage. I always like it when bloggers restyle outfits. You get new ideas about how to style existing items in your own wardrobe.
Those boots are too die for!

Amy,
I love this post since I’m all about getting the most out of our wardrobes and actually wearing our favorite items as much as we can. Such a fun cute and comfy outfit today!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Cute layering – I like the shirt peeking out from under your knit! 🙂
I definitely need to try harder at layering! I tend to wear my summer sleeveless tanks year round, but I just add a scarf, leather jacket or cardigan depending on how cold it is, haha! I’m really not a layering expert like you who needs to layer for cooler weather! 🙂
Hope you are having a nice start to the week 🙂 I’m taking part in a capsule wardrobe challenge on Instagram which is fun! 🙂
