How to create a wardrobe that lasts? There’s no need to buy new things every year when you stock up on my favorite basics.
Can I be honest with you all? Sometimes I feel this pressure to always have something new to share. It’s self-induced I am pretty sure, but in the blogging world it seems like to stay relevant you have to have current things to link. I feel like it can be annoying for me to post things when what I am wearing isn’t available for purchase. Here’s the truth, I don’t have the budget to constantly buy new things. I am not a full time blogger who makes my income off of this. I love fashion, I love connecting with you, and I love being creative with clothing. That’s why I started blogging about fashion in the first place. I am fortunate that it has grown to the point that I am gifted clothing, given credits to buy clothing, and even sometimes paid to share clothing. For the most part this allows me to post new things without having to buy them myself… BUT that is not always the case.
That brings me to the point of today’s post. More often than not, in my real everyday life (remember I just blog 3 days of the week), I am wearing non-new pieces and remixing items. They just don’t always make it to the blog because I try to share current things. But I run out of new, and I rewear. Many outfits are made up of my favorite basics: pieces I bought several seasons ago and wear all the time because they are just that – basics that never go out of style. Pieces I love. Pieces that season after season I can find similar pieces to link because everyone loves them. These are pieces like cardigans, t-shirts (solid and striped), neutral sweaters, scarves, good jeans, moto jackets, and ankle boots. Below I am sharing these items as I’ve styled them through the years to give you an idea of their versatility and longevity. I’m also linking current options which allow you to create a wardrobe that lasts. I’d love to know any feedback or thoughts you all have on this topic!

How to Create a Wardrobe That Lasts
Great Cardigans
Cute Striped Tops
Okay, I don’t have a good example for this year, but I promise I wear this striped top all the time! This is one from last season.
Scarves
See also cardigan pic for another example. I also wear my tan scarf pictured in the moto jacket photo all the time.
Distressed Jeans
(see also ankle boots example for second photo in winter setting)
Ankle Boots
Honestly, these are such a staple in my wardrobe, it is hard to even pick a pair to show you. You’ll notice the same black buckle pair in other photos from 2016 and 2017 as well. Notice the blanket scarf in my left photo and my same denim in the right photo. Another time I have worn them this year too!
Moto Jackets (Leather and Suede)
(Actually wearing the same top in both too)

xoxo, Cool style for men
I love having good wardrobe staples! And seeing how other people wear their staples always gives me such inspiration!
I love all of these picks! It is so important to stock your wardrobe with pieces that can be paired into multiple outfits. I love how you have a mix of casual and dressy options. This definitely gives me inspiration for my closet!
Thank you for linking up this week!

Great looks Amy Ann!
I have to admit I really do not care if I have something that can still be linked to. Most of my purchases lately are thrifted or are items on sale so they’re not linkable and when I do link it’s just to something similar.
