Should you try straight leg jeans?
Have you seen them in magazines and on bloggers and wondered? You might be able to tell from these photos that my answer would be an emphatic YES! I happen to love the versatility of the cropped length. Sometimes it can be tricky to find the right pair, so I would encourage you to try on several cuts/styles before giving up. Here’s what I look for: a higher waist, a leg that really is straight (rather than slightly narrowing), and a length that hits just above your ankle rather than higher on the calf (it’s more flattering). I think they look cute with a shirt tucked in or with a slouchy sweater. I also like that I can wear them with sneakers, heels, or ankle boots. How fun is this top?! I say try everything… go into that dressing room with as many options as possible. Sometimes we have preconceptions on items that actually end up looking amazing.

This is such a fun look, Amy Ann! I love that top on you, and all the red details in your outfit are perfect. Sometimes the same cut of denim can get a little boring, so it’s nice to mix it up. When skinny jeans were first popular, it seemed like I could only ever find them in true denim, never with any stretch, and they just never fit right. So, at the time I was all about a straight leg jean. It seems like lately there are so many denim styles. It makes it easier to try something new.
Why shouldn’t we try new styles & silhouettes? It’s such a fun part of clothing and style, I think!! Of course it’s only taken me 50 years to figure this out…ha ha!!

I love straight leg jeans but you can pull them off so much better with your height advantage! It’s definitely trickier shopping for them when you’re petite, but I agree…there’s always at least one pair out there that’s bound to work. This outfit is so chic and I love the pops of red!
