Striped Off The Shoulder Top

July 1, 2016

I admit, I wasn’t planning a 4th of July related outfit post. I’m honestly always amazed by the bloggers who think enough ahead around holidays to get things styled and posted in advance. All that changed when I got this adorable striped off the shoulder top in the mail and thought, “why not add a red lip and a white bag?” Does posting the Friday before a Monday holiday count as advance? Let’s just say it does so I can feel like I kind of have my life somewhat together. I like outfit combinations that are appropriate for holidays but not bought specifically for them. That way they are wearable all season long. Also, I don’t want to be dramatic, but you know what is depressing? When none of your jeans fit. I mean, I know I am pregnant and all (and very happy about it), but no woman likes to put on her clothes only to have them not button. Thank goodness for these flares which are making me feel somewhat normal even if I did squeeze into them.

What are your plans for the long holiday weekend? I’m so excited because we have a wedding for a good friend. I just love weddings. Then Russ and I leave for California! We are taking a babymoon of sorts to explore, and I am so ready for a vacation. We fly into San Francisco, drive down the coast stopping one night each in Carmel and Santa Barbara, and then fly out of LA. If you have any suggestions of things to do or places to eat (my favorite), let me know! Be sure to follow along on snapchat (straightastyle) and Instagram.

This adorable embroidered top/dress also came in my recent order from Goodnight Macaroon. Unfortunately, with my growing bump, it did not fit quite right. I misread the measurements and thought it would be more of a tunic length on me. It’s actually dress length but a but too tight. It would be such a cute coverup as it is a bit sheer. I wanted to show you though because the embroidery is so pretty!!

I love that top, and you’re right–with red lips and the white bag it’s perfectly patriotic, but in a subtle way. I hope you have fun at the wedding and then on vacation. How exciting!!

Oh you’re going to be in my hood! Or driving by it anyway! You’ve got to shop in SF of course! I’d suggest Casanova for lunch or dinner in Carmel. I’ll follow along on IG!

I almost never remember to have holiday themed posts ready before the holiday, but this fits the bill perfectly, and I love your off the shoulder top.

Love those flares on you and that embroidered tunic top right at the end is great! You’re hair is looking particularly wonderful in these pics too! 🙂

I used a belly band until I was big enough for maternity jeans – it’s a great option to allow you to wear your favourite jeans a little longer even when you can’t button them! 🙂
