Striped Off The Shoulder Top

July 1, 2016

I admit, I wasn’t planning a 4th of July related outfit post. I’m honestly always amazed by the bloggers who think enough ahead around holidays to get things styled and posted in advance. All that changed when I got this adorable striped off the shoulder top in the mail and thought, “why not add a red lip and a white bag?” Does posting the Friday before a Monday holiday count as advance? Let’s just say it does so I can feel like I kind of have my life somewhat together. I like outfit combinations that are appropriate for holidays but not bought specifically for them. That way they are wearable all season long. Also, I don’t want to be dramatic, but you know what is depressing? When none of your jeans fit. I mean, I know I am pregnant and all (and very happy about it), but no woman likes to put on her clothes only to have them not button. Thank goodness for these flares which are making me feel somewhat normal even if I did squeeze into them.

What are your plans for the long holiday weekend? I’m so excited because we have a wedding for a good friend. I just love weddings. Then Russ and I leave for California! We are taking a babymoon of sorts to explore, and I am so ready for a vacation. We fly into San Francisco, drive down the coast stopping one night each in Carmel and Santa Barbara, and then fly out of LA. If you have any suggestions of things to do or places to eat (my favorite), let me know! Be sure to follow along on snapchat (straightastyle) and Instagram.

This adorable embroidered top/dress also came in my recent order from Goodnight Macaroon. Unfortunately, with my growing bump, it did not fit quite right. I misread the measurements and thought it would be more of a tunic length on me. It’s actually dress length but a but too tight. It would be such a cute coverup as it is a bit sheer. I wanted to show you though because the embroidery is so pretty!!

I’m so horrible about planning ahead for holiday outfits too. But I wore a red and white outfit without thinking about it a couple weeks ago, so I’m going to post it on Monday 🙂 Have fun visiting California!!! 🙂

You look so elegant with the pretty jewellery- especially these earrings. I love how a few accessoires can pimp up every simple outfit. The off the shoulder top is so cute too!
    Have a great weekend!

This would make a great holiday outfit! I too have been seeing all of these 4th of July outfit posts and it totally slipped my mind… maybe because we were on vacation the week prior to the holiday weekend! Oh well, there is always next year. 😉 Enjoy California, I have always wanted to go there!

Sometimes the stars align and make it look like I am prepared and do things way ahead of time, too! 😉 I am so bad about remembering to do holiday posts! Since I am my own boss though it works out! Love that striped top on you! Have fun on your trip!

This outfit is perfectly chic for the 4th of July and I’m a sucker for all things striped, so I just love this top. I imagine it is not fun when your clothes start to fit differently, but you still look great! Flared jeans are always so flattering. Your trip to CA sounds exciting–can’t wait to see photos! Happy 4th of July!

You look so gorgeous, Amy Ann! I love how subtle the 4th of July theme is.
So excited that you’re visiting Cali! Maybe we’ll all run into eachother (along with Vanessa!) I definitely recommend visiting Sausalito while you’re in SF, if you have time, and trying out La Boulange or Rose’s Cafe. In LA, some of my favorite spots to eat are Cafe Gratitude, Gracias Madre, and Nobu!
