Tights are winter’s hero. I firmly believe that. I use tights to wear my favorite skirts and dresses all winter long instead of having to reserve them for specific seasons. They keep me from caving to the boring world of trousers every day for work. At the start of each season, I buy a couple nice pairs of black tights. I need an extra for the last-minute-rushing-out-of-the-door-snag situation. If you can keep one pair nice all season, just don’t tell me. I recently got to try the L’eggs Energy Tights. They’ll now be my forever friend for the control top (hello holiday parties) and graduated compression. They also have a wide waist band, so none of those awkward rolling down moments occur. I also appreciate the quality is higher than the price (only $5-$7). I’ve definitely spent more than that on my quest for a good pair. (Be sure to get the Energy Tight not the Sheer Energy unless you are looking for more of a hose than tight.)Β I plan on wearing this look to an upcoming holiday party. This plaid skirt is only $15 and feels so festive!

I totally agree. Tights are a must have in Winter! I remember visiting Berlin a few years ago and it was absolutely freezing!
I wore a warm pair of tights underneath a pair of leggings AND an pair of trousers on top! It was that cold I kid you not.

i think this is the perfect chic, holiday party look, Amy. You’ve managed a plaid skirt without falling into the trope of “schoolgirl” and I think you look fab, and for just $15? Insane! I’m all for a good pair of tights, too, though I always seem to end up ripping them apart — which is alright for me, really, because I love the look of distressed tights.
