Barrel leg jeans are really having a moment. With fall trends out, they don’t seem to be going anywhere soon either. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to find a pair I love and get on board (see my post here). Now that I have, I really love them! I honestly think they are really flattering. How to Find the Right Fit in Barrel Leg Jeans
I can only give my personal opinion, but I think wearing a barrel leg jean that is too short makes them very unflattering. It also really limits your shoe choices which means you will wear them a lot less. My current two favorite pairs are the Madewell pieced barrel leg jean (worn below in white and regular wash) and the Gap barrel leg jean. Both come in different inseam options, and I am wearing the long/tall.

Barrel Leg Jeans with Flats
Wearing my barrel leg jeans with flats is probably my favorite way to style them. It just feels like the most natural fit to me. Grab any pair of your favorite flats with a top you love and put it together for a fun outfit! Here are two of my recent favorite combinations.
Barrel Leg Jeans and Heels
Keeping the same base as the first look above, I just swapped my shoes for a heel I have been loving lately. It took this look from day to night! If my jeans had ended 4-5 inches higher, the proportions of this look would have been totally off. The effortless vibe of it all comes from the length of the jeans. Heels and this style jean totally work with the right balance!
Barrel Leg Jeans and Sneakers
Pairing barrel leg jeans with sneakers is my second favorite shoe choice next to flats. Often this style jean feels a little more casual to me, so sneakers work well. Sneakers in general are so stylish right now, so mix it up and try it out! I did my favorite neutral Adidas with a tank. The added pop of color from my sweater really adds so much!

Barrel Leg Jeans and Boots
Perhaps the most tricky pairing is barrel leg jeans and boots. I honestly love this though!! Here I have on my Gap pair of barrel leg jeans. As long as your jeans are long enough, boots look so cute with this style jean!
- DO make sure your jeans come either close to or to the top of your foot (see the shopping pic above to see these jeans with a flat)
- DO pick a pair of boots that matches your outfit style. Here I have on a dark wash dressier jean and a chicer top, so a leather, dressier boot matches. I wouldn’t pick a suede western style boot for example.
