Crew socks are all over lately!! You will see them with sneakers, loafers, ballet flats, and more! Wear them with athleisure to dresses. If you aren’t sure about this trend, you are not alone. I was there too not too long ago, but I’ve really come to not only embrace it but enjoy it. Let’s break down how to wear crew socks with sneakers including some easy tips and lots of outfit ideas!!

How to Wear Crew Socks with Sneakers and Athleisure

When you are first testing out crew socks vs ankle or no show socks, it can be intimidating. I think the easiest way to try it is in a very casual athleisure type outfit. I started out wearing them with leggings, and this felt most natural to me. After that I ventured into wearing them with my tennis skirts, athletic shorts, and athletic dresses. Starting with a white crew sock like my favorites from Amazon and a similar neutral sneaker is the easiest option. Once you feel comfortable with that, it can be really fun to by colored socks, striped socks, or even embroidered socks that coordinate with your outfits. There are SO many fun options!!

Pairing Crew Socks with Casual Outfits

Now that we have mastered athleisure looks, we can move on to casual outfits. Crew socks are perfect to pair with denim shorts and the trendy boxer style shorts outfits. This is where you can get really creative and have a ton of fun pairing your different colorful sneakers with fun socks to match your looks!! In my examples below I pair a pink sock with my pink sneakers to match my sweater. The second look has striped socks with my red sneakers to go with a red and pink look. I love how they show personality!!

Last but not least, let’s talk about how to wear crew socks with dresses! I find this to be the hardest and most unnatural pairing, but I think that is exactly the point. Sometimes the fun of fashion is the contrast of it. An edgy jacket with a feminine dress. A more masculine loafer with a girly blouse. Here, a casual sneaker and sock with a dress. As always, have fun with it!! For me, a more casual dress still feels most natural.
