How to Organize Your Kids Craft and Art Supplies

June 12, 2024

Are your kids arts and craft supplies a mess? Does it seem like they grow with every craft? I know the feeling! My girls LOVE to draw, paint, glue, stamp, stencil, and more. Our craft area was getting out of hand with no real organization system, so with our move I took the chance to get it all under control. So if you are like me and need to figure out how to organize your kids craft and art supplies, read on for the two purchases that made it so easy for me! You can also see a closer up look on my reel here.

Our Playroom

Before I really dig into the two products that made a huge difference organizationally, I thought I would share a bit about our playroom as it is a new space on the blog. When designing our playroom, I knew I wanted a fun, bright space for our girls. I tried to pick things that reflected their personality and showed them we value their creativity. I purchased these frames from from Target to make a huge gallery wall of their art. Ivy Jean comes home from school with the neatest prints. Plus, they both are just creating things constantly. I knew it would make our space so much fun! We bought this round white table and these fun turquoise chairs. I am so happy with how it turned out!

How to Organize Your Kids Craft and Art Supplies – Rainbow Art Cart

Let’s get to the important stuff! What do you do with all the paper, coloring books, and well… stuff?! I saw this adorable rainbow art cart from the container store, and I knew it was just what we needed! It has eight drawers. I was able to move SO much stuff from a sideboard in our old house into it. I labeled each drawer with Avery labels I just printed on our printer from home. Here’s what I did:

  • white paper
  • colored paper
  • coloring books
  • notebooks
  • stickers
  • supplies (scissors, glue, hole punch, stapler, etc.)
  • Play-Doh
  • stamps

Ivy Jean is old enough to read, and Jane Evelyn and I just talked about how we put thing back into the drawer they came from with the similar thing. So far the girls have done great with the organizational system! The drawers are deep and wide, so there is plenty of space!

Large Lazy Susan

When I ordered the cart, I also ordered this large lazy susan. It is made to store A LOT! It’s perfect for every coloring utensil your kids have ever had. I actually cannot fill ours up! I’ve put all of their markers, colored pencils, crayons, and quick sticks inside. Plus scissors have a spot in the middle. It is amazing! These were previously in about 5 mason jars and were still a mess. I cannot recommend it enough!!
