Veja Sneaker Review – Are they Worth It?

March 8, 2023

Well, I have officially owned my first pair of Veja sneakers for almost four years. I just bought my second pair, so I thought it was high time I shared a Veja sneaker review. Are they worth it? How is the sizing? Do Veja sneakers have to be broken in? And more! I am going to break it all down for you in today’s post!

Veja Sneaker Review – What’s the Deal?

First and foremost what is a Veja sneaker? What’s the hype? “Veja uses Brazilian and Peruvian organic cotton for the canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber for the soles, and various innovative materials conceived in recycled plastic bottles or recycled polyester.” Since they are thoughtfully and sustainably made, I am willing to pay a little more. Not to mention, they hold up as I say later.

The trademark look is an all white sneaker with a colored V. They come in several styles. The first one I purchased is the Campo (and here) which is the classic lace up sneaker. My newest is the Velcro called the Recife. For purposes of this post, the only other one I will mention is the V-10 (and here) which is a more casual lace up version which offers more color options. Veja makes multiple other sneaker styles, but these are the “dressier” leather sneaker options.

How to Veja Sneakers Fit?

I most typically wear an 8.5 in all loafers, sandals, boots, etc. In sneakers I usually wear a 9. Vejas are sized in European sizes. Both pairs I have are a 40 and fit perfectly. My first pair, the Campo, did require a little breaking in at the tongue area. It was stiff and needed to soften as I wore it. My second, newer pair, the Recife, was easily walkable from the start. I find these sneakers to be comfortable, but I would not equate them with a Nike or a running/walking shoe. They don’t have an arch support. Even given that I find them easy to wear all day long. They are more comfortable than my Golden Goose.

Veja Sneaker Review – Are they Worth It?

So now that you know what they are and how they fit, for my final Veja sneaker review… are they worth it?? YES! In all honesty, these are my most worn shoes in my closet. I wear them over sandals, over my Golden Goose, over pretty much anything else. They literally go with anything. If I were to pick between buying them and a Target lesser expensive pair, I would pick them. If I were to pick between buying them and a Golden Goose, I would pick them. If I were to pick between them and a closer priced Steve Madden or something of the like, I would pick them.

Tip: I always pick a pair that has a leather V instead of a suede so it doesn’t stain/get dirty. I have worn my older pair in the rain without worry because they are all leather. I have also cleaned them with a magic eraser or simply water and a paper towel. They just wipe right off! Feel free to leave a comment with any questions, and I will get back to you.

Iโ€™m on my 4th year in my pair of Vejas. They still look great and are my go to pair for the weekends. Iโ€™m so shocked ate the price but after 4 years Iโ€™d say the price per wear is pretty low.
