Transitional Eclectic Dining Room Update

April 19, 2021

Russ and I will have been married for twelve years this summer. Like, whoa. Even typing that feels hard to believe. The majority of our furniture was bought early in our marriage for another house.. Otherwise, it was generously gifted to us by family when we were first starting out and didn’t have the money to purchase it on our own. That makes it all about ten+ years old, survived by two dogs, and countless toddler spills. We were ready for an update.

It felt daunting though. See, I know what I like but putting several rooms together in a cohesive manner. No thanks. Can anyone relate? Enter Luxe Furniture & Design. Today I am so excited to be sharing our transitional eclectic dining room update. It’s the first step in our three part update, and I could not be more thrilled to take you along. Plus, use the code “straightastyle” and you’ll get 10% off your order!

Before our Transitional Eclectic Dining Room Update

I want to start our transitional eclectic dining room update by sharing some before photos by Abby Graves Photography for Luxe so you can see our overall style. It really is a transitional eclectic with hints of boho – words I honestly just learned. πŸ˜‰ Luxe Furniture & Design has really honored both our style and what we liked and wanted to keep in our home. They blended pieces that were special to us and needed to stay like my grandmother’s dining room table and her chandelier (seen here which moved to our entryway where it fit better). We also really liked our cream upholstered dining room chairs that were still in good condition. Another need we asked for was storage for all of Ivy Jean’s crafts and art supplies.

After – Transitional Eclectic Dining Room Update

We are so thrilled with how everything turned out! Luxe Furniture & Design really matched our style so well and made the process so easy! I want to highlight each piece below in our transitional eclectic dinging room update as they all have really great details. The details are what made them perfect for us! Luxe has all of these pieces available should you see anything you want.

Modern Trefoil Sideboard & Lamps

I think this sideboard is honestly my favorite piece in the room! It was definitely more of a splurge item, but I have never seen anything like it. It is made from tiles that feature a trefoil-shape inlay. The doors magnet shut and are so flush they almost look like they don’t open at all. It perfectly holds ALL of Ivy Jean’s craft supplies. If you are anything like us, the kitchen and dining room are where we play and craft and where I know homework will happen in the future. It was imperative to us to have a space that functioned well for our family. Now we actually have a place to put it all, hallelujah! I also LOVE the lamps. I cannot believe how well they tie into the room! They are a work of art themselves with the hand painted blue ceramic base.

Frameless Square Beveled Mirrors

These four frameless square beveled mirrors feature antique copper center and exposed screw heads. They are 31×31 inches, and together they take up most of our wall. They really make such a neat statement in the room! I wasn’t sure how to decorate a dining room wall when we had already done one wall with art, and these are really beautiful and well made.

Large Antique Bronze Iron Chandelier

I’ve always wanted a light fixture that made a statement in our room! Our table is a long rectangle, and this type of long, rectangular chandelier is made to go over tables just like ours. I love the antique bronze finish over the iron. The whole piece still feels open so that our room still has an open feeling. What really sold me is that this chandelier is actually named the “Arnold chandelier.” It was meant to be!

Performance Fabric Host Dining Room Chairs & Rug

Our dining room also happens to be our main eating area. It’s right off our kitchen and our highest traffic area in the house. To say our dining room chairs get used would be an understatement. Before our host chairs were wood, aka that’s where the kids sat. I LOVED that Luxe took us from black to blue, but before I committed I asked a LOT of questions. These are performance fabric host dining room chairs. The performance fabric is pretreated which means it is more resistant to stains and very durable. It’s also easy to clean. Mom win! The rug is a medium pile. We specifically picked one made with a count for a high traffic area where spills might happen. Luxe also has a rug protection policy you can purchase.

These blue velvet performance fabric dining room host chairs are not only perfect for our transitional eclectic style but also perfect for our family's lifestyle.

Local Art by Haley Ragsdale

Hayley Ragsdale is an amazing local artist who also happens to be a friend and fellow churchgoer with us. She’s crazy talented, and I have always dreamed of having her art in our home! If you can believe it, she took our cow photo from above and used the same canvas to transform it into this amazing work of art!! I told her colors I liked and some pieces of her previous work I admired, and she took it from there. I’m so grateful to have her beauty in our home!

This local art by Hayley Ragsdale is amazing!!
