Don’t get me wrong, I love a good jean short. While chasing a toddler, I definitely need a casual pair of shorts for the summer months. However, I don’t know about you all, sometimes those feel pretty casual and almost a little young for me. Especially the ones that are short. And most of them are short – especially when you are 5’10”. That is why I have been on the hunt for dressy shorts for women.
Enter these adorable paperbag waist black shorts. They are so flattering, comfortable, and a decent length. They are a dressier fabric which makes them easily suitable for dressier yet warm summer events. You can add a blouse or cami with a heeled sandal like I have done below. You can also dress them down with a graphic tee and sneakers. I wanted to show you both options in one post.

Below is a more casual styling option with a t-shirt and sneakers. I love how versatile this style short can be. You can shop more cute paperbag waist shorts here. I always default to Shopbop since they have such a big selection with brands like BB Dakota, Madewell, and re:named all offering options $70 and under. They sell the rainbow striped Madewell pair you have seen me style on the blog before here. Clearly I am into this style!

You look fabulous in the “little black shorts”! I thought you meant that they were longer than the others – they have a 3″ inseam!
I don’t think I could wear them as well as you with only a 3″ inseam – isn’t that a short-short?
I haven’t really searched the internet for some other length – what length would you suggest for a curvy figure who can wear a new pair of Madewell jeans in 31 – 9″ mid-rise skinny jeans in Paloma wash – size 31!!
thank you so much for the tip! and sending the link!

I’m just loving the paper bag style. I have a pair of pants, now I just need a pair of shorts. I love shorts that are about this length… not too short and not too long!
