My Everyday Makeup

I’ve had a few questions about my makeup routine, so today I thought I would share my everyday makeup favorites. I should preface this post by saying that I am in no way a makeup expert or a beauty blogger. However, I do have some tried and true favorites, most of which I have been wearing for years. Overall, I don’t like to spend a ton of money on my makeup. I buy nice foundation and powder but otherwise stick to mostly drug store items. I will also say that most days I do not wear more than mascara on my eyes because #lazy. What you see below is when I am feeling fancy. I have also created a beauty page where you can easily shop my favorites.

 Skincare

I had some trouble with acne in college and took acutane. Since then I have been fortunate to have good skin. It really made a long-term, positive difference for me. In terms of skincare, I am pretty low maintenance. I use a rentin-A from my dermatologist every other night and Aveno moisturizer morning and night (on the nights I don’t use the retin-A). I also use L’Oreal tan towels once a week, Jergens lotion on my legs pretty much daily, and this face tanner about once a week during the spring and summer. I’ve tried other self-tanners, but I always go back to the towels. I find them the easiest to put on and the longest lasting. They do take a little getting used to. I’d be happy to share more if you are interested.

Face

My skin is normal to dry I would say, so take that into account as I share these products. I’ve tried other (more and less expensive) foundations, but I always go back to Estee Lauder Double Wear. I love the coverage and the finish (more matte). I use a brush to put it on similar to this one. Mine is so old I don’t even know the brand which clearly means it’s time to get a new one… Then I apply this concealer under my eyes and on my eyelids to serve as a base for my eye shadow using this sponge. After that I dust this powder on my whole face with a big fluffy powder brush similar to this one. It’s the other non-drugstore product I use. I’ve loved it for years, and dusting it on adds just enough to keep me shine free. It lasts a long time since I don’t use much and also sets my foundation. Top with blush and call it done. I don’t have a blush I am loyal enough to list.

Eyes

For Christmas, I asked for the Jaclyn Hill eye shadow palette. It’s $38 for 35 colors and is way more affordable than most palettes out there. I personally have loved the colors, the pigmentation, and the quality for the price. I’d recommend it. I don’t have a set color pairing I do every time. Instead I enjoy creating different looks with the colors based on my mood/outfit. I bought this liquid liner around Christmas time too (got on a bit of a makeup kick), and at $21 it is more than I have spent in the past. I really do like it though. It’s easier to apply than others I have tried and doesn’t budge. As for mascara, I have used L’Oreal Voluminous for years, like since I started wearing makeup. I cannot see myself ever changing. I use a hard toothbrush to separate my lashes (a trick I learned from my mom), and I always curl them between coats.

Lips

If you have been following for a while, you probably already know this, but I primarily use LipSense for lipstick. I’ve done a full post with my favorite colors and more information on it here.
