Deciding what to wear to New York Fashion Week can be stressful! On Friday’s post I shared some more personal thoughts about how I left the experience, so I won’t repeat those here. I ordered several things in advance and none of them ended up working out for a variety of reasons. I work with one brand regularly and thought they were sending me an outfit along with a couple other things. Turns out they ended up just sending the other things as they were out of the one outfit. The only problem is I didn’t know that until the package arrived 2 days before I was supposed to leave. I also ordered 4 outfits in one order, and none of them worked either. One was too small, one too big, one see through (it was cream/white), and one was well, ugly. Ha!
I ended up on my way to NYC without a thing packed. Bad move. What that did was cause me to panic shop the second we arrived making the whole thing more stressful. My poor mom, she was such a trooper. She just helped me to stay calm. She has such a good eye and is the best shopping buddy! I also packed about every shoe I owned not knowing what I’d end up with. You should have seen my suitcase. If I ever go again, this is something I will for sure do differently.
NYFW Day 1
Anyway, on day one I was supposed to go to a Shopbop open house, but due to a 3 hour flight delay I missed it totally. My day one was really day two. I guess it ended up being okay because of the whole having nothing to wear. 😉 So when we got in on Thursday, we shopped and ate at Shake Shack, YUM. Friday our day started with going to the Amanda Uprichard showroom which was a highlight of the trip. I went casual (see it here). All of the pieces are designed and made right in NYC in the four block radius of the showroom. Isn’t that so cool?! I’d never been in a showroom, so seeing all the fabrics and the garments hanging was such a surreal experience. I loved getting to meet Lauren who was SO nice. I also got to pick out this gorgeous dress. Black was a no-brainer in NYC.
What to Wear to New York Fashion Week
After leaving the showroom, I promptly changed into the dress with my Marc Fisher boots and headed off to the rewardStyle Headquarters open house. It was fun to meet other bloggers in a more casual environment. I later got to meet with my rewardStyle rep which was not only really fun but also really informative. I’d never met her in person before, and she is so sweet! It was fun to connect and talk all things blogging. Stay tuned for my other looks! Thank you to Angie Garcia for these photos.
