Russ and I got to go on our third date since Ivy Jean arrived this past Friday! To say we were excited would be an understatement. Since Ivy was born premature during the middle of flu season, we were literally told not to leave the house with her for several months. Then because of her feeding issues, she was a tough baby. Add to that we don’t have family who live in Tulsa and my mom already drives in and watches her once during the week (she goes to daycare the other days I work), figuring out date nights was more difficult than we anticipated. Can anyone relate?
Thankfully we are past much of the hard stuff, and we have an amazing community of friends here. One of our friends volunteered to watch her, and we are also working to set up regular times we trade off with another friend who has a baby around Ivy’s age. Russ and I were married for seven years before Ivy Jean came along and used to dates whenever we wanted. We are so thrilled to be Ivy’s parents, but it is also important to still have one-on-one time in order to maintain a strong marriage. We’re trying to figure it all out!
All that to say, Mama needed a dress worthy of date night! This gorgeous cold shoulder ruffle maxi dress by Amanda Uprichard more than delivered. You all know I am a dress lover, and I think this one has taken the spot of my favorite. That’s saying something. The print and cut are just so gorgeous. It’s definitely more of a splurge piece, but so worth it. It also comes in lilac which is on sale. You can shop all her designs at Shopbop and Revolve. This is a new designer to me, and I really love all her pieces.

You speak truth, Amy!! This dress is fabulous. So what’d you do for date night? My husband and I try to go out to dinner once a week, so I don’t have to plan a meal, and he doesn’t have to do the dishes!! Plus then we usually have the left overs for another night, so it’s kinda like 2 date nights!!

This dress is definitely worthy of a date night! You look stunning! And I think that location is perfect for photos with the stairs. Growing up as a babysitter for lots of different families, I always admired the couples who made it a point to go out on dates. During high school I was the date-night sitter for one couple who had a standing date night every week. It’s so important for a marriage, and something I hope to make time for once our little one comes along.

That is such a beautiful maxi dress! I love the floral print! And yes, date nights are so important! Hubby and I haven’t had one in a long time – we used to be able to swing date lunches instead when toddler T was small. Now with two of them we’ve struggled to get the time, as the little one still frequently wakes during the night so the energy levels are pretty low haha. It’s definitely something I want to try get more time for, but at the moment we just steal whatever small amounts of time we have <3
