Tried and True

March 3, 2017

Sometimes I feel like I need new pieces in order to keep things interesting around here. I have to remind myself the best outfits aren’t complicated, and they often seem to be the ones you all like best anyway. With nothingΒ new to build an outfit around, I did what I often do and went for my tried and true favorites in an easy neutral combo.

These black distressed skinnies have been around for a while (first seen here almost two years ago, yikes). My white cami is a layering staple that is still available (seen here and here). This duster cardi was first seen hereΒ over two years ago in a pretty identical outfit to what I am wearing today. My boots were a favorite from last season seen here. This belt has been a fun piece to add to both dresses and pants (last seen here and still available). Though my exact jeans, cardi, and boots are long gone, they are such staple pieces I was able to find very similar options I am linking below.

Russ and I are fortunate to have a friend group in a similar life stage as us, i.e. babies and toddlers. Saturday night several of us grabbed take out and met up at a friend’s house. We literally packed a cooler with a couple beers and a bottle, ha! Keeping it classy (and safe, I promise). My how things have changed. Diapers were changed and no one was embarrassed when their baby cried or spit up because five minutes later it was someone else’s turn. It was fun and refreshing. Why am I telling you this? I wore this outfit, so somehow in my head it all relates. Grin. Hope you all have the best weekend.

I could not agree more, simple is usually the best way to go. Oh and I can totally relate on always wanting to have something new… although since I started my shopping ban I have to admit that I have not been wanting to add anything else as I have been cleaning my closet and have been finding things I had forgotten about..

so true – outfits don’t need to be outrageous or complicated, and oftentimes when blogging the need to have to “new” or the “best” feels real, when in reality its all how we perceive it. This year I’m hoping to remix more of what I have on the blog since I’m a lady on a budget.
    Have a great weekend.

Super super cute and casual! I love creating outfits out of what I already have in my closet. And it’s soooo nice finding a group of friends in a similar place in life as you.

You really bring up a great point, Amy. We don’t always have to go to extremes to look good! The tried and true can be easy yet stylish!! And baby spit up is part of life at this venture, right? That’s why you should have stock in bleach! ha ha

You know, I’m always most inspired by those who can remix pieces they’ve had in their wardrobes for years. To me, it’s easy and not much of a challenge to get super creative with a brand new piece as it is for older ones, which sometimes forces us to think outside of the box in wearing them differently than we have before. That said, I love that your pieces have been styled many times on the blog and yet, you’ve created something new, it makes it that much relatable. Even more relatable is that story you shared, haha, this is parenthood! Thanks for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead!
