Sharing this gorgeous feminine and edgy outfit combination plus a little life update today. It’s been quite the week you all. Ivy Jean had been sick for days with a fever she just couldn’t shake. Two doctors visits, even more phone calls, and multiple blood tests later, we landed in the hospital on Friday. If you’ve been following along on Instagram (@straightastyle), you know we found out she has pneumonia.
We stayed overnight and were discharged Saturday. We are so thankful for all the wonderful care we go while there and are also thankful to be back home with our girl who is hopefully on the road to recovery. I cannot thank you all enough for reaching out, praying, and generally being the awesome and supportive group of women you are. It is times like these I am reminded why I love blogging so much.
If I am being honest with you all, the hospital visit and the whole illness really has been pretty scary. Her fever has been very high, and I have felt ill-equipped to take care of her and helpless at times. It’s heartbreaking to see your baby stuck over and over and just generally in pain. We have such a wonderful group of friends, church family, and family. I’m so thankful for their prayers and support. It’s funny how life just kind of stops when things like this happen. If you read my infertility or birthย story posts (linked on my about page), Ivy Jean has a funny way of reminding this control freak just how little control I actually have and sending me running back to Jesus.

I’m so glad she’s doing better, Amy! There’s nothing like having no control or idea how to make your child better to make you feel so helpless!!

Feminine and edgy is right up my fashion alley! I love the two together. I can so relate to this. I saw on insta that you were released and so happy she is okay. My little Millie got dehydrated once and had to be hospitalized and man it was the worst mama moment of my life so far. Absolutely heartbreaking and scary to not have control. So glad she is better!

Oh Amy Ann, I’m so sorry to hear that about Ivy Jean. I’m so glad that she’s on the road to recovery, but I’m still sending prayers your way! It is the worst when your baby is sick–this control freak also struggles with that kind of lack of control.
You look gorgeous–I love this edgy + feminine mix. Take care!
I’m glad to hear she’s doing better! As for the outfit, love the dress in combo with the jacket, so gorgeous! Xx

Amy Ann,
I’m sure the hospital experience was rough, and I’m glad that she’s better now! I really like what you said about needing reminders to give up control. The only things that really matter are our loved ones, right? In any case, you still look amazing in your blush colored dress and leather jacket. Such a stylish mama!
